Marriage made Aishwarya Rai calmer says Sanjay Leela Bhansali; otherwise she was in turbulent stage

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam director Sanjay Leela Bhansali once revealed that Aishwarya was in a turbulent stage before marrying Abhishek Bachchan.

Aishwarya Rai was once called Sanjay Leela Bhansali's muse after doing blockbusters like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Guzaarish and Devdas. 

There was news that Bansali wanted to cast her as Mastani in his film Bajirao Mastani, but she refused it because of Salman Khan. He was supposed to play Bajirao initially.

Here we have a throwback interview with the director who revealed some inside details of Aishwarya's life. He also said that she was in a turbulent stage before marriage with Abhishek Bachchan.

Bhansali had said that Aishwarya had gone through many ups and downs in her early stage of life after becoming Miss World, ''Aishwarya has gone through experiences. Life also teaches you more than you already know. Responsibilities teach you to look at life differently. All the exposure she has had from just being Miss World to sitting with Steven Spielberg as the jury member is an achievement and opens your mind. Also, she now has a happier life.''

He also added that she was in a turbulent stage earlier, but not anymore, ''That has made her calmer. It has made her respond to situations in a nicer way. Initially she was temperamental. She would flare up easily. There was too much upheaval in her life. But she's not in a turbulent stage anymore.''

Talking about her marriage in a good family, the director said,''She has settled well into her family and now has a different outlook to the world. As an actor she's more relaxed. Today she has gone beyond competition.''
