Mahesh Bhatt’s comment "If Pooja weren't my daughter, I'd love to marry her" returns to haunt him

Days after Sushant Singh Rajput's tragic demise, all those close to the actor were called by police and were interrogated. One of them was Sushant's rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, who was questioned on Thursday (June 18).

Some also dug out Mahesh Bhatt's old interview in which he mentioned that he would have loved to marry his daughter Pooja Bhatt.

In a photoshoot Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt decided to kiss each other on lips. The headline of the magazine read, "If Pooja weren't my daughter, I'd love to marry her." This created nationwide discussion and the duo was called out for allegedly not being in a father-daughter relationship in the conventional sense.

Pooja calling Mahesh Bhatt as Bhatt Saab and not as dad or daddy added fuel to the fire. However, both of them have never spoken about it.

Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh: During her interrogation, Rhea also said that they (Sushant and her) were planning to get married this year in November. His father didn't like her initially, but later his family gave in. "Everything was falling in place. I even spoke to his father KK Singh twice," Rhea said.

According to The National Herald, Suhrita Sengupta, a writer and a close associate of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, has also said something similar.

Suhrita also opened up about Sushant hearing voices, she said, “During the last one year, he had cut himself completely from all outside contact. Rhea was with him until she could take it no longer. There came a time when Sushant began hearing voices. He began to feel people were trying to kill him. One day an Anurag Kashyap film was playing in Sushant’s home and he told Rhea, ‘I said no to an offer from Kashyap. Now he’s going to come to kill me.’ That’s when Rhea was too frightened to stay with Sushant any longer.”
