Virat Kohli back among top-5 batsmen in ICC T20I Rankings
Virat Kohli is the reigning skipper of Team India and is considered the best batsman in world cricket, across formats. Kohli had been struggling to get runs under his belt of late all across. However, his performances in the past two T20Is have rewarded him in the ICC T20I Rankings.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is rated as the best batsman in the world across formats. While he struggled to get runs under his belt, his performance in the last two Twenty20 Internationals against England has allowed him to earn his name and fame back.
Kohli played a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 73 in the second T20I, followed by another commendable knock of an unbeaten 77 in the next game, only to end up on the losing cause. Nonetheless, his performances have aided him in the ICC T20I Rankings.
According to the International Cricket Council's updated rankings, Kohli has re-entered into the top-five and is placed in fifth among batsmen. He is led by KL Rahul on fourth, while the top spot belongs to England's Dawid Malan.
Among other Indians, senior opener Rohit Sharma stays 17th, while fellow opener Shikhar Dhawan has dropped to 27th. Also, Shreyas Iyer has risen 32 places to 31st, while wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant rises 30 places to 80th.
As for the bowlers, spinner Washington Sundar remains on 11th, while pacer Jasprit Bumrah drops to 23rd. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal stays on 23rd, while pacer Shardul Thakur has fallen to 27th and seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar rising to 45th, as the top spot remains with Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan.
