Luck does not seem to be entirely with defending champion Mumbai Indians (MI) as it suffered a four-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 46 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. While the win dents MI's bid for playoffs, we look at some of the records scripted during the match.
Suryakumar Yadav scores against Ravichandran Ashwin
Yadav has scored 96 off 64 in the IPL against Ashwin in IPL. It is the most for a batter scoring against the bowler in the tournament without having been dismissed.
Avesh Khan joins a unique list
Avesh has claimed 21 wickets this season and is the second-highest for the season after Harshal Patel. Meanwhile, it is the first time that a couple of uncapped bowlers have claimed the most wickets in a season.
Shikhar Dhawan joins an undesired list
Dhawan was run out for the 16th time in his IPL career. As a result, he has become the joint-most to be dismissed via the same means, along with Gautam Gambhir.
Match summary
Winning the toss and electing to bowl, DC restricted MI to 129/8, thanks to Avesh and spinner Axar Patel's three-for, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 33. In reply, DC was off to a tense start. However, Shreyas Iyer, along with Ashwin, managed to see it off, winning by four wickets.
