IPL 2021: These are the records scriped as Delhi Capitals has it easy against Punjab Kings
This was Delhi Capitals' sixth win of the 2021 Indian PremierLeague, while with a couple of losses, it has risen to the top spot. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings suffered its fifth loss of the season, as with three wins, it drops to sixth.
It was a pretty one-sided encounter, as Delhi Capitals drifted past Punjab Kings, beating the side by seven wickets in Match 29 of the 2021 Indian Premier League at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal mostly dominated the match for his brave knock of an unbeaten 99 before DC opener Shikhar Dhawan subjugated it with his sly unbeaten 69. Meanwhile, a couple of records were scripted.
Kagiso Rabada claims a first
Rabada managed to claim a couple of his three wickets tonight within the powerplay itself. As a result, it was the first time in his IPL career that he had claimed two within the PP.
Mayank scripts some fine ones
Mayank played a spirited knock of an unbeaten 99 tonight. Consequently:
- After Suresh Raina and Chris Gayle remain stranded at 99 in the competition, he is the third batsman.
- It was the second-best knock by a skipper on IPL debut after Sanju Samson's 119 this season against Punjab Kings.
- He has had the most controlled batting of IPL 2021, with 95% precision, considering the top two scoring batsmen in a game.
Putting PBKS to bat first, the DC bowlers did well to put the brakes on most batsmen. However, Mayank's classy innings of an unbeaten 99 helped PBKS finish on a par total of 166/6. In reply, DC made it look easy, with openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan playing the central part.
Brief scores: PBKS 166/6 (Mayank- 99*; Rabada- 3/36) beats DC 167/3 in 18.4 overs (Shaw- 39, Dhawan- 69*; Brar- 1/19) by seven wickets.
