It was yet another commanding performance from Delhi Capitals (DC), as it outplayed former champion Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 33 runs in Match 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. The win took DC back to the top spot as the match saw some records being scripted, and here they are:

DC registers its lowest for the season
DC could manage 36/2 in the powerplay. It was its joint-lowest PP total of the season, along with the previous game against RR in Mumbai.

RR scripts the lowest for IPL 2021
On the other hand, RR could manage just 21/3 in the PP. Consequently, it was the joint lowest score of the season during the phase, alongside Mumbai Indians (MI).
Also, it failed to strike a single boundary in the PP, which is only the second instance since Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2011 (15/2).

A personal glory for Sanju Samson
Samson played an unbeaten knock of 70, but to no avail, as his side lost by 33 runs. Meanwhile, it was the first time in his IPL career to have happened.

Winning the toss, RR invited DC to bat, as it could manage a below-par total of 154/6, courtesy of Sreyas Iyer's 42. In reply, the DC bowlers were deadly, hardly giving any room to the RR batters. Although Samson played a superb knock of an unbeaten 70, it was not enough, as DC sealed a 33-run win.
Brief scores: DC 154/6 (Iyer- 43; Rahman- 2/22) beat RR 121/6 (Samson- 70*; Nortje- 2/18) by 33 runs,
