IPL 2020: Reasons why CSK is sinking in the bog
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have lost two of their three matches in the ongoing IPL season. The team has some points to reflect upon, which might help them make a comeback.

The first week of the IPL is over and fans have witnessed something unusual this season. More than the changed venue, and the bio-bubble, it is the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) who have become the talk of the town.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who have been the most successful and consistent teams in the IPL, have always been at the top of the points table. The team has lifted the IPL trophy on three occasions and has always made it to the play-offs in all seasons they have featured in.
Unfortunately, two consecutive losses after the opening win has left a lot to ponder upon the reasons for the de-escalation of the team’s performance. The following could be the probable reason for such drooping performance.
Poor opening
The experienced opening pair of Shane Watson and Murali Vijay have been unable to prove their worth. The duo have not been able to prove themselves in the entire powerplay, when they can actually exploit the opposition. The case has been in all the three matches that CSK have played in.
Dhoni’s batting position
Maybe, with the intent to give chance to the youngsters, Dhoni was seen hitting the pitch at number seven in the first two matches, and number six in the third. Though his intent is certainly good, by the time he comes to the crease, the match is already out of CSK’s grasp.
Saggy spin attack
Chennai’s spin attack, primarily consisting of Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla, have had a high economy rate in all three matches. Also, the duo have not been able to get the necessary breakthroughs whenever required. The team might have to rope in Imran Tahir in the upcoming matches.
Turbulency at number 3
With Raina, master for CSK at the third batting spot, out of the tournament for personal reasons, the franchisee had to rope in Rayudu at this place. Rayudu did prove his worth in the first match, following which he met with a little injury. Ever since he is out, the team has been in tough situations, lacking players, who can stabilize with the bat. With high hopes from Rituraj Gaikwad, the former wasn’t able to perform up to the expectations and has failed to impress the management.
