IPL 2020: From Shikhar Dhawan to Mohammed Shami, Indian cricketers who married divorced women
Shikhar Dhawan married Ayesh Mukherjee in 2012, who happens to be based in Melbourne, while she is 11 years elder to him. Mohammed Shami got hitched with Hasin Jahan in 2014, a former cheerleader. In 2018, she had charged Shami with domestic violence and adultery.
Cricketers are celebrities in our country, as they have the liberty to break the barriers of our society, which many consider a taboo. From marrying someone from another religion to a bride elder to themselves, these Indian cricketers are setting an example apart.
While the overseas cricketers are generally spared from the taboos of the societies, the Indian cricketers seem to be on the receiving end. Nonetheless, it has not seemed to bother them at all.
There have been numerous Indian cricketers, who also have gone on to marry a divorcee. On the same note, we take a look at five such cricketers.
Shikhar Dhawan: The exquisite Indian opener is married to Ayesha Mukherjee, an amateur boxer based in Australia. As the two got married in 2012, hardly anyone knows that Ayesha is a divorcee, while she also has a couple of children from her previous marriage. What's even interesting that she is 11 years elder to him. Nonetheless, this was not a spot of bother for either, as true love prevailed, while Dhawan also had the support of his family. The two also have a boy together, born in 2014.
Venkatesh Prasad: Yes, the former Indian pacer, too, adds up in the list, as he married his wife Jayanthi. The couple was introduced by Prasad's teammate Anil Kumble, as they fell in love. Nonetheless, Jayanthi was already a divorcee from her previous marriage, as it hardly bothered Prasad, who eventually tied the knot with her.
Anil Kumble: Prasad's teammate, too, makes the list, as he had married Chetna in 1999. Interestingly, Chetna was a divorcee as well, while she already had a daughter from her previous marriage. Nonetheless, they gelled well and hitched up, as the couple has a son and a daughter, while Kumble also raised his step-daughter. Undoubtedly, this success was the reason why he asked Prasad to do the same.
Murali Vijay: The Indian Test opener makes the list, but on a controversial note. He got married to Nikita, as the couple have three children together. Nonetheless, what's intriguing that she happens to be a divorcee, while her ex-husband is none other than Vijay's Tamil Nadu and Indian teammate Dinesh Karthik. Nikita reportedly had an affair with Vijay, while she was married to Karthik. After Karthik suspected this, he divorced her, as she wasted no time in tieing the knot with Vijay.
Mohammed Shami: The current Indian seamer is on the list, having married his wife Hasin Jahan, as ex-model and cheerleader, in 2014. Nonetheless, Hasin was married before as well. The couple has a daughter together, but it was in 2018 when she charged Shami with domestic violence and adultery. As of now, they have reportedly parted ways.
