IPL 2020: BCCI boss Sourav Ganguly explains why IPL is ‘best league in the world’
Sharjah: It is never easy to chase a 200-plus target in a Twenty20 game. But Rajasthan Royals (RR) believed in themselves and won their IPL 2020 contest against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Sharjah on Sunday (September 27). RR set a record by overhauling 223 scored by the KL Rahul-led side. After this game, the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly has spoken as to why IPL is 'best league in the world'.
Former India captain Ganguly hailed the “amazing talent” on display in the cash-rich league.
Also, Ganguly said a match like this makes IPL “the best league in the world”. He took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to say this.
“What a game ..that’s why this is the best league in the world ... amazing talent on display @bcci @IPL (sic),” Ganguly wrote on his Twitter page.
Earlier, Mayank Agarwal (106) and Rahul (69) guided KXIP to 223/2 in 20 overs. For most part of RR’s chase, KXIP were under control but Rahul Tewatia swung the game.
After struggling for his first 18 balls, Tewatia hit five sixes in one over bowled by Sheldon Cottrell. In all, he smashed seven sixes in his 31-ball 53. Also, Sanju Samson’s 42-ball 85 was key in RR’s four-wicket victory.
