India vs England 2020-21: Prasidh Krishna, Suryakumar Yadav earn ODI call-up
India and England are currently involved in a thrilling five-match Twenty20 International series in Ahmedabad. The focus would shift to the three One-Day Internationals to be played in Pune. The Team India squad for the same has been announced, with some fresh faces.
While the ongoing Twenty20 International series between India and England holds a decider on Saturday, the focus would shift to the One-Day Internationals next week. Meanwhile, the 18-member squad for Team India was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Friday.
Incidentally, there were a couple of fresh faces. Top-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who was off to a flying start in his T20I career, slammed an impressive 57 against England on debut during the fourth T20I Ahmedabad on Thursday and has been rewarded with a call-up to the ODI side.
Along with Suryakumar, pacer Prasidh Krishna, too, is one of the fresh faces on the side. He is coming off a prolific outing in the just-concluded Vijay Hazare Trophy, having finished as the highest wicket-taker for Karnataka.
Also, all-rounder Krunal Pandya has earned his maiden ODI call-up. He finished as the highest run-scorer for Baroda in the VHT, while he was also decent with his spin bowling.
Nonetheless, the notable exclusion happened to be Mumbai's opening batsman Prithvi Shaw. Throughout the tournament, he was in explosive form, slamming over 800 runs in the edition and leading his side to the title glory.
Meanwhile, the side would miss the services of prime pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who recently got married. Also, seamer Mohammed Shami and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja are yet to return as they continue to recover from their respective injuries.
