Although the competition was initially scheduled to be held in India, the prevailing pandemic and a scare of the third wave in the country has pushed it out to the gulf nations. Consequently, the International Cricket Council has placed a cap on the number of players and officials travelling for the tournament.

As per a Pakistan Cricket Board official, the deadline for the sides to submit the final list of 15 players and eight officials is September 10, reports PTI. However, the official added that the cost of the additional players travelling with the side would have to be borne by the respective cricket board.

The official also said that it is up to the boards to decide on the number of additional players travelling with the side, as the more, the merrier, keeping in mind the current pandemic situation. Moreover, any last-minute changes can only be made five days before the sides enter quarantine.

Before the WT20 Super Eights gets underway in the UAE, the qualifiers would be held in Oman, from where four teams would qualify for the Super Eights. A total of four venues would be used for the competition (Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah).
