MS Dhoni gave fans a much-needed respite amid Chennai Super Kings' poor season. Dhoni himself confirmed his presence for the next IPL season during the toss of their clash against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). CSK are the first team this season to be knocked out of playoffs contention.
The pillar of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who has been with the franchise ever since the genesis of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, gave a much-needed satisfaction to the CSK fans. Ever since his untimely and surprising retirement from international cricket on August 15, questions have surfaced if this could be the last IPL for MS Dhoni.
However, ahead of CSK clash with KXIP in Abu Dhabi, good news came from the centre during the toss time. On being asked by the host Danny Morris if it was the last time MS Dhoni is being seen in ‘yellow’, Dhoni, with all confidence clearly said ‘definitely not.’
Even though CSK CEO had confirmed Dhoni’s presence for the next IPL season, but that little satisfied the CSK fans.
Even though CSK had a poor IPL season this year, who are at the bottom of the points table, the news infused a new spirit among the disappointed CSK fans.
It is the first time in the IPL history that CSK have failed to qualify for the playoffs. The team have lifted three IPL titles to date and will surely come back stronger to make amends for this season.
