Film critic Ramesh Bala also shared the news on his Twitter page, but with a caption that official announcement is yet to come.
Last time, Murugadoss had directed Ajith in 2001 for the movie Dheena. It had also starred Suresh Gopi and Laila in lead roles.
Ajith is currently busy with his 60th movie directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor. The shooting is currently underway.
Ajith's recently-released Nerkonda Parvai was a box-office hit and was well appreciated by the critics and audience.
Thala 60 is a big-budget action entertainer and will showcase Ajith's racing interests.
