The Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar turned 91 on September 28. Here's wishing her a very Happy Birthday!
New Delhi: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar turned a year older today and Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the melody queen to wish her on her birthday.
PM Modi shared details about their conversation and said that he considered himself fortunate to have always received her affection and blessings.
"Spoke to respected Lata Didi and conveyed birthday greetings to her. Praying for her long and healthy life. Lata Didi is a household name across the nation. I consider myself fortunate to have always received her affection and blessings," he tweeted.

According to a Times of India report, Rachana Shah, Mangeshkar's niece was quoted saying, “Latadidi is deeply pained by reports of casualties following the COVID-19 pandemic. She told us that this was not the time for celebration. She wants to pray for those who lost their lives in the pandemic.”
Rachana also revealed that the seasoned singer will be spending the day with her family members and will eat simple lunch-daal, rice and aaloo ki sabzi.
Lata Mangeshkar has mesmerized generations with her melodious voice. She has been an inevitable part of the Indian music industry. The Nightingale of India began singing at the early age of 13 years and numerous top Bollywood actresses lip-synced to her tracks in movies over the years.
Considered an all-time great, Mangeshkar ruled Hindi film female playback singing for more than five decades and is a recipient of numerous awards and honours, including Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian recognition. She has also received acclaim for her songs in various other Indian languages.
