The live-action One Piece series' new trailer, released by Netflix on Saturday, features numerous memorable photos from the anime's East Blue Saga, the first story arc. Along with the Straw Hat Pirates, the 3 minutes and 7 seconds long clip also introduces Buggy the Clown and Arlong. It also recreates scenes from the anime, such as when Zoro fights Captain Mihawk and Luffy gives Nami his cap. Additionally, a letter of thanks from Oda himself was published, along with a number of One Piece photos.

The latest One Piece live-action trailer demonstrates that the series will offer a faithful recreation of the East Blue Saga on the streaming platform. This indicates that the first season of One Piece will centre on the Straw Hat Pirates' formation as they prepare to set sail for the Grand Line in search of the One Piece. Iaki Godoy will play Luffy, Mackenyu will play Zoro, Emily Rudd will play Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson will play Usopp, and Taz Skylar will play Sanji. Oda's admiration for One Piece's live-action adaptation is a positive indication that the adaptation will stay loyal to the original series.

Cowboy Bebop, Netflix's last attempt to turn an animation into a live-action series, was cancelled after the first season. Creator of Cowboy Bebop Shinichir Watanabe did not see the show and criticised the manner in which it was adapted. Oda's excitement for the show is encouraging, but the manner Cowboy Bebop was produced may also raise questions about One Piece. One Piece's latest teaser emphasises the show's efforts to be as faithful to the anime as possible, but there's no guarantee it will be able to overcome Netflix's curse of anime adaptations. Maybe Netflix will produce a live-action adaptation of the popular anime series One Piece after learning from its mistakes with Cowboy Bebop.
