A huge moment of pride as Malayalam movie Jallikattu has been selected as India's official entry for the 93rd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

Jallikattu emerged out of the 27 chosen films making a shining entry to the Oscars from the race of other Indian movies that were: The Disciple, Shakuntala Devi, Shikara, Gunjan Saxena, Chhapaak, Ak vs AK, Gulabo Sitabo, Bhonsle, Chhalaang, Eeb Allay Ooo!, Check Post, Atkan Chatkan, Sky is Pink, Chintu ka Birthday and Bittersweet.

Jallikattu which is based on S Hareesh's short story Maoist. The movie was a blockbuster hit in the film circle as well.

The action film narrates the story of a bull that escapes from a slaughterhouse in a hilly remote village, and the entire village men gather in haste to hunt down the animal as it causes distruction.  

The film was applauded for Pellissery's extraordinary eyesight for long takes, screenplay, and the cinematography that had emerged as the hero of the entire film.


The music of the film was known for running down chills through down the audience's spines. The entire film is a piece of art and an experience worthy of spending every minute for.
