Sean Connery who essayed the popular role of the 'James Bond', that is still fresh in our memories passed away at the age of 90.

He was the first to bring such a role on the big screen and appearing in seven spy thrillers.

His acting career spanned for five decades with a fleet of extraordinary performances and astonishing portrayal of several roles.

He has a major fan following, and his admirers all over the world are mourning his death.

The actor passed away peacefully in his sleep, while he was in the Bahamas. He was being "unwell for some time", his son said.

Some of the best films were 'The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones, The Rock, and the Last Crusade.

His son Jason Connery said, "Had many of his family who could be in the Bahamas around him" when he died overnight in Nassau.

"We are all working at understanding  this huge event that happened so recently, even though my dad ha been unwell for some time," said his son.

"A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor," he added.

He played James Bond and went onto appearing in five other official films and the unofficial Never Say Never again in 1983.

He was knighted by the Queen at Holyrood Palace in 2000.
