From Ugramm to Mission Mangal: Bengaluru boy makes it big in Bollywood

Jagan Shakti completed his engineering in Bengaluru and started his film journey with the Kannada movie, Ugramm as assistant to KGF-fame director Prashanth Neel. Today, he has made a big name for himself by directing the Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal.

Bengaluru: The trailer of the much-awaited movie Mission Mangal is out. The movie is directed by Jagan Shakti. Starting his film journey with Ugramm, here is how Jagan climbed the ladder in the entertainment industry, to end up directing the movie starring action king Akshay Kumar.

Jagan hails from Bengaluru and also completed his engineering in the city. He started out as an assistant to hit movie KGF director Prashanth Neel in the Kannada movie Ugramm.

Ugramm starring Sri Murali released in 2014. The process of the making of Ugramm took four years due to various reasons. When released, the movie was declared a box office hit.

With this experience, Jagan flew to Mumbai to try his luck in Bollywood. He started working with R Balaksrishnan, popularly known as Balki. Jagan worked as assistant director to Balki in major projects like Pa, Padman and English Vinglish.

Akshay Kumar who go to know Jagan through these projects appreciated his style of work during the shooting of Padman.

This paved way for Mission Mangal movie. When everything fell in place and Akshay Kumar gave his nod for the movie, Jagan put every effort to cast the right people for the movie.

Mission Mangal has Kannada's popular actor Datthanna in one of the major roles. Even Tapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen from the south film industry play vital roles. The movie also stars Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha and others.

The model of the workstation in Mission Mangal is the ISRO centre in Hassan. As it is situated in Karnataka, actors will also be seen delivering dialogues in Kannada, said sources.

All stars including Akshay Kumar had descended to Bengaluru to shoot a crucial scene of the movie at Anand Rao Circle.
