Jisha's plight prompts actor Dileep to build 1000 houses for homeless

Dileep to build homes for poor

The brutal rape and murder of Jisha, a Dalit law student who was killed inside her dilapidated house, has prompted actor Dileep to initiate a project to build safe homes for the poor.  The actor lent his support for a 55-crore project to build 1000 houses for the homeless in Kerala.

Inaugurating the project, Dileep said the brutal rape and murder of Jisha, who didn't have the protection of a safe house and lived in a dilapidated home inspired him to take up the project. Named 'Surakshitha Bhavanam,' people who own at least two cents of land at any part of the state can send in their application to build the house. However, jobless widows will be given special preference. The project would be implemented with the help of Aluva-based GP charitable trust, Kerala Action Force and various other organisations.

Bible says that when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Though the charity must be done without publicity, it is essential to promote it to bring in more help, Dileep said.  Earlier, GP charitable trust and Kerala Action Force had built 66 homes for the poor.
