Newbie, Raam Reddy's directorial debut 'Thithi' that made the whole world sit up and take note of Kannada movies, now has another reason to cheer. The movie has been released worldwide on Netflix. It is the second Kannada movie after Pawan Kumar's critically acclaimed 'U-Turn' to be released on Netflix. 'Thithi' will now be available in 190 countries and in 23 languages on Netflix.

Despite being a low-budget movie sans any big names on board, the Thithi's rise to the Netflix will certainly give the much-needed push to Sandalwood movies in reaching the audience, worldwide. Besides, the platform will help also the movie- makers in terms of revenue too.

'Thithi' brought the vignette of our villages on to the small screen with a simple story of three generations who vie to grab a land after the death of 'Century Gowda'. The fact that the movie had a stellar performance by non-actors made it all the more curious. The movie lapped up the Golden Leopard Award at the 68th Locarno International Film Festival, Marrakech International Film Festival Award, Palm Springs International Film Festival and even the 63rd National Film awards too. Two characters Gaddappa (Channegowda) and Century Gowda (Singrigowda) and their dialogues laced with rustic touch of Mandya native are household names in Karnataka, today.
