Noted actor Arjun Sarja will be a chief minister for 20 months. No, he is not contesting any elections but will be the chief minister on silver screen. After being a chief minister for a day in his super-duper hit 'Mudhalvan', Arjun will essay the role of HD Kumaraswamy, a popular chief minister for 20 months during the BJP-JD(S) coalition government.

The movie titled as 'Bhoomiputra' - to be directed by ace director S Narayan - will feature Kumaraswamy's 20-month tenure as chief minister, his popular policies and not to mention 'Village stay' programme that was quite a hit during the then government. The movie will also have a reference to BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa with whom Kumaraswamy's JD(S) had formed a coalition government.

In fact, the timing of the movie's release has raised eyebrows among the political circles. Moreover, it is being seen as an attempt to boost Kumaraswamy's image when the state goes to polls next year, May 2018. However, the movie is expected to be released by December, 2017.

The first look of the movie was unveiled at a college here on Monday. Former prime minister Deve Gowda who launched the first look of the movie wanted the director to live up to the title 'Bhoomiputra' and avoid glorifying Kumaraswamy's rule. The movie will showcase only his political life and will not make any comments on opposition parties, says director Narayan.
