Popular South Indian star Amala Paul has found herself embroiled in a bit of a controversy, with a set of photos she uploaded on Instagram and Facebook last week gaining unwanted attention.

Accompanied by the tagline 'Morningz made perfect with @apsaravydyula Happy Sunday all (sic)', the photos show Amala in various asana postures in a yoga studio.

The photos show a mural of Buddha on the wall behind Amala, and one of the images has Amala resting her legs on Buddha's face in the Shirshasana posture.

This has caused a bit on an uproar on social media, with several users expressing their disapproval. Some were quick to point out that the photo shows the actress' lack of respect for Buddha.

Amala, who practices yoga regularly, had recently announced plans to open several yoga centres in the country, in collaboration with her mother.
