Akshay Kumar meets PM Modi discusses Toilet Ek Prem Katha

National Award winning actor Akshay Kumar was in the capital, and the actor took the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and put a smile on PM's face with the title of his next film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

The 49-year-old actor took to Twitter to share a picture with the PM and said they discussed his film "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha".

"Met PM @narendramodi and got the opportunity to tell him about my upcoming 'Toilet-Ek Prem Katha'," wrote Akshay.  The National Award-winning actor said he was overjoyed when the title of the film brought a smile on PM Modi's face.

"His smile at just the title made my day!" he continued. PM Modi replied to Akshay, saying, "Happy to have met. My best wishes." "Thank you so much Sir. It was indeed a pleasure," Akshay wrote back.

It was earlier said that the movie was based on Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. But the film's writers Siddharth Singh and Garima Wahal told a news agency that Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was conceptualised much before Modi became the PM.

The film, directed by Shree Narayan Singh, is based on a love story against the backdrop of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.  The movie delves on the need for toilets for sanitation in the country, and this message is conveyed via a love story.

"Toilet..." also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Anupam Kher and Sana Khan. The movie will hit theatres on June 2.
