Actress Padma Kumta dies while shooting for TV serial

On the sets, of a Kannada serial, Padma suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed. She breathed her last en route to a hospital. The actress had won National Award for her first film for the role  of Belli in the film 'Chomana Dudi'. She had also acted with Dr Rajkumar in 'Devatha Manushya'.

 

She is known for stellar performance in movies like Bayalu Daari, Phalitamsha, Avasthe and Arivu and these days she was busy with acting assignments on the small screen. 

 

Many Kannada actors remembered her and paid tribute to her on social media.

 

Malavika Avinash said, "She was Devaki in my first ever celluloid appearance as an 8-year-old Krishna for GV Iyer! Padma Kumta, you will be missed! Om Shanti! (sic)

 

Raghu Mukherjee: Deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Padma kumta.....R.I.P beautiful (sic)

 

Hitha Chandrashekhar: Deeply saddened by the passing of such a good soul-Padma Kumta aunty! Though I'd met her only a few times, I always felt loved around her. May your soul rest in peace. Feel blessed to have met you and known you. (sic)

 

Padma  leaves behind two daughters and a son.
