Even as Mamata Banerjee-led TMC is sweeping the polls, her election strategist Prashant Kishor has just made a massive announcement.

Speaking to television channel NDTV, Kishor said: "I want to quit this space, quit I-PAC and leave it to my colleagues to handle. I want to do something else in life."

"I have no desire to continue in this space whatsoever. Those who were trying to troll me, I am telling them in the victory, I don't want to do it any longer."

On whether he would rejoin politics, he said: "I am a failed politician. I have to go back and see what I have to do."

Talking of the Bengal election, he said while the results seemed one-sided in favour of the Trinamool Congress, it was a tough fight. “We went through hell. The Election Commission was blatantly partial and made our campaign difficult. We have been confident about doing very well and the TMC winning more than people were willing to give. The BJP was trying to build up massive propaganda that they are winning Bengal,” Kishor told NDTV.

"Mr Modi's (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) popularity won't mean BJP will win all elections," the poll strategist added.

His tweet way back in December flooded Twitter timelines today as the Trinamool Congress raced to a massive tally in Bengal, beating the BJP in a nerve-wracking battle that started years ago.

He was trolled when he predicted a humiliating defeat for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Assembly elections in West Bengal in 2021 in December 2020.

He had claimed that BJP would struggle to even cross double digits in the election.

"For all the hype AMPLIFIED by a section of supportive media, in reality BJP will struggle to CROSS DOUBLE DIGITS in #WestBengal PS: Please save this tweet and if BJP does any better I must quit this space!" he had tweeted.

However, his prediction has come true with the trends suggesting a clean sweep by the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee had roped in Kishor last year for her image makeover and prepare a battlefield for Assembly elections.

Kishor is known for as much for his canny political understanding, as he is for working with whichever party wants to seek his services.
