PM Modi in TN rally: DMK, Cong leaders keep insulting women; vote for NDA means more investment, development
Launching a scathing attack on DMK and Congress leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that they "keep insulting women", while pointing out that the NDA schemes are aimed at empowering women.
FollowPrime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a public rally in Tamil Nadu's Madurai on Friday, said a vote for National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is a vote for more investment and development in the region.
"A vote for NDA is a vote for better investment in this region. We're creating the right atmosphere for more industries to come here, especially agro-industries with help from our farmers in value addition," PM Modi said.
"In this year's Union Budget, a series of economic corridors have been announced, and one of them is the Madurai-Kollam corridor. Funds allocated for railway infrastructure projects in the state have increased by a record 238% compared to that of 2009," the Prime Minister said.
He further said that NDA will be the right fit for the preservation of Tamil Nadu’s culture and ethos. DMK and Congress on the other hand, Modi says, “haven’t ununderstood the ethos of Madurai” and that the “law and order situation will suffer under them.”

DMK leader A Raja had earlier courted controversy for making alleged disparaging remarks against Tamil Nadu chief minister K Palaniswami's mother during an election rally, drawing criticism.
Taking note of a complaint from the ruling AIADMK, the Election Commission had on Thursday barred Raja from campaigning for 48 hours and also removed him from his party's list of star campaigners for the April 6 Assembly polls.
Speaking about the Jal Jeevan Mission implementation in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi said that more than 16 lakh tap water connections have been provided since the launch of the mission.
"We started the Jal Jeevan Mission to ensure tap water connections to every home in India by 2024. In Tamil Nadu, over 16 lakh tap water connections have been provided since the launch of the mission," PM Modi said.
The Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase on April 6 and the counting of votes will take place on May 2.
