Kerala Election Results 2021: LDF maintains lead as first round of counting concludes

First round of counting concluded in Kerala and as per early trends LDF is leading in 80 seats, UDF 57 and NDA 3.

The LDF in Kerala has just crossed the halfway mark in leads - 78 - while the UDF is leading in 57. The BJP is leading in 2 seats. As counting continues, the LDF will hope their vote share - and seats - increases ensuring an unprecedented victory in that state where historically, the incumbent is voted out.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who contested from the Dharmadam Assembly constituency, is leading.

BJP's Kummanam Rajashekharan is ahead in Nemom where Congress leader K Muraleedharan is at number 3 now. In Palakkad, E Sreedharan has a good lead over Shafi Parambil of the Congress, according to Election Commission (EC) data.

Kerala ministers J Mercykutty and K T Jaleel are the only two who are trailing at present from the Pinarayi cabinet.

Kerala health minister KK Shailaja is leading by 9,060 votes.

The ruling Left-led LDF front is hoping to end a four-decade trend by retaining power in the state - its only remaining fort in the country.
