Before the votes are counted on May 2, the pollsters are back in business. The exit polls were released at around 7 pm Thursday after the polling for the eighth phase of West Bengal elections concluded.
The much-awaited exit poll results predict that the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is all set to retain power in Assam where it won for the first time in 2016.
However, the Times Now-CVoter opinion poll said that the state is set to witness a close fight between the NDA and UPA, with the BJP-led alliance winning by a thin margin.

In Assam, the India Today-Axis My India voter survey has predicted a return to power for the BJP with 75-80 seats.
NDTV's poll of exit polls: The BJP is expected to retain power with 76 of 126 seats. The Congress is likely to win 49 seats, predicts the poll of exit polls.
