Bypoll election to Kundgol on May 19: Election Commission

Bengaluru: The Election Commission has announced that bypoll for Kundgol Assembly constituency will be held on May 19.

Bypoll election for Kundagol is being held due to the sudden demise of MLA CS Shivalli on March 22.

Karnataka minister for municipal administration Channabasappa Sathyappa Shivalli, a Congress MLA from Kundgol, breathed his last at a private hospital in Hubballi following a cardiac arrest on March 22.

Shivalli, a three-time MLA from Kundgol, complained of chest pain and was rushed to Line Hospital in Hubballi. 

He was taken to the emergency ward. The minister did not respond to treatment and died in the hospital.

The 57-year-old Congress member had become a minister for the first time in the HD Kumaraswamy cabinet.
