Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case: SC orders CBI probe; Mumbai Police to hand over evidence
The Supreme Court on Wednesday gave its verdict on the transfer of the Sushant Singh Rajput case. The case will be probed by the CBI.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday transferred the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death to the CBI.
The Bihar government which registered a case following a complaint by the late actor's father KK Singh accusing his girlfriend Rhea and her family of abetting the suicide and also embezzling the late actor's earnings, was pitching for a CBI probe.
"Now with this order, the family and the lawyer have expressed satisfaction. This is a victory for Sushant Singh Rajput's family. SC ruled on all points in our favour. The court also clearly said that the FIR registered at Patna was correct,” Vikas Singh, lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput's father, was quoted as saying.
On one hand Maharashtra government which also registered a case was investigating it when Bihar Police travelled to Mumbai to carry out their investigation. The BMC ended up quarantining Patna SP Tiwari and sent him back. Four other officers returned after a week of investigation.
Bihar's DGP Gupteshwar Pandey accusing Maharashtra Police of not cooperating with them had also demanded the release of his officer.
