Kerala: Jilted lover kills girlfriend by slitting her throat

Attacks on women seem to be increasing in the state of Kerala. A youth has murdered his girlfriend by slitting her throat. The incident happened in the state's capital Thiruvananthapuram.

Thiruvananthapuram: In Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, a youth has murdered his girlfriend by slitting her throat. The deceased has been identified as Ashitha.

Following this, the youth tried committing suicide. He has been currently admitted in a hospital. He is identified as Anu. It is also reported that the accused entered the victim's house forcefully and committed the crime.

According to sources, Anu and Ashitha were in a long time relationship. On January 6, Anu reached Ashitha's home early morning and entered her house. He also locked the house from inside.

Soon Ashitha started to cry, the neighbours rushed to her home. Ashitha was seen soaked in blood and Anu was trying to slit his throat too.

The neighbours rushed the duo to the hospital, but Ashita was declared dead before reaching the hospital. Anu is apparently in critical condition. It is not yet known whether someone else was present in Ashitha's home when the incident occurred.

Attacks on women seem to be increasing in the state. Here are similar incidents that took place in Kerala.

On May 31, 2019, a 39-year-old woman was hacked in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, by a youth for allegedly rejecting his marriage proposal. She has been identified as Pushpa. The woman suffered serious ear injuries in the incident and has been admitted to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

An 18-year-old girl was set ablaze in Thiruvalla, Kottayam district, Kerala, on March 12, 2019, by a jilted lover. The girl, hailing from Ayirur, succumbed to burn injuries on March 21.
