In a development considering Indian Premier League franchise Royals Challengers Bangalore, it has appointed a new chairperson. Prathmesh Mishra would be handling the duties of the chairperson, the franchise announced on Thursday.

Mishra happens to be the senior executive of Diageo, which is a British multinational alcohol brand. Also, he presently handles the duties as the chief commercial officer of Diageo India, while the RCB duty would be an additional responsibility that he would be taking up.

RCB happens to be owned by Royal Challengers Sports Private Limited, which is Diageo India’s subsidiary, while the parent company happens to be United Spirits Limited. Mishra would replace Anand Kripalu, whose tenure as Diageo India’s chief executive officer and the managing director came to an end on Wednesday.

“Royal Challengers Bangalore is an integral part of Diageo India, and all of us share a profound passion for the team. I am excited about adding my shoulder to Virat Kohli, Mike Hesson and Simon Katich and playing bold in everything we do, on and off the field. I would also like to thank Anand for his tremendous contribution to RCB,” he said in a release by RCB.

As for RCB, it is yet to win the IPL title to date, having finished as runner-up on three occasions. The side has had a decent stint in the now-suspended IPL 2021, placed third in the table, having played seven games, winning five and losing a couple.
