Pataudi Trophy 2021: Rishabh Pant recovers from COVID-19, joins Team India bubble
Rishabh Pant is a star Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, set to play a vital role for Team India in the upcoming five-Test series against England for the Pataudi Trophy. Meanwhile, he had contracted COVID-19 last week but has recovered.
Team India suffered a scare after wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant contracted the coronavirus last week. As he was supposed to join the team bubble for its warm-up game against County Select XI at the Riverside Stadium in Chester-le-Street, he had to go into isolation, thus missing out on the clash.
However, he has now recovered from the same and is ready to join the team bubble ahead of the five-Test series against England for the Pataudi Trophy, starting August 4. He completed his mandatory ten-day isolation and underwent a couple of RT-PCR, where he turned up negative before undergoing a cardio check-up.
"Hello @RishabhPant17, great to have you back," said the Board of Control for Cricket in India on social media.
As per reports, Pant had attracted the virus while staying at his friend's place in Southall, while he had developed some mild symptoms. He was reported to have contracted the Delta 3 variant while visiting a dentist.
In contrast, many had believed that he had invited the virus while watching a UEFA Euro 2020 clash at the Wembley Stadium in London. Following Pant's incident, BCCI secretary Jay Shah had warned the other Indian players to avoid crowded places at the Euro and Wimbledon.
