England is already under pressure following its loss against India in the second Test of the Pataudi Trophy that has caused it to trail 0-1 in the Pataudi Trophy. Ahead of the third Test, it has suffered a significant setback.

Pacer Mark Wood has been ruled out of the upcoming Test due to a shoulder injury he suffered in the second Test at Lord's. He had injured his right shoulder while fielding at the boundary and could bowl just four overs on the final day.

Among the other pacers, James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, and Sam Curran remain in the squad.

Wood has become the fifth seamer to be injured for England in the longest format after Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Olly Stone, and Chris Woakes. All-rounder Ben Stokes has taken a break from the sport indefinitely, citing mental health issues.

Meanwhile, Woakes seems to return soon after being named for Warwickshire in its upcoming County Championship 2021 clash against Worcestershire. However, Archer, Broad, and Stone remain out of the series, as their recovery is still to take quite some time. At the same time, England won't rush them either, considering their availability and fitness for the Ashes later this year.
