Former South African cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has lashed out at the Board of Control in India for allegedly "threatening him" for taking part in the upcoming edition of the Kashmir Premier League.

Gibbs claimed that the richest cricket body in the world had warned that he would be barred from cricketing activities in India if he took part in the KPL, which is all set to get underway on August 6 in Muzaffarabad.

Terming the threat as ludicrous, Gibbs said that it was completely unnecessary on the part of the BCCI to bring their political agenda with Pakistan into the equation to try and prevent him from playing in the Kashmir Premier League.

The Kashmir Premier League is the brainchild of Pakistani politician Shehryar Khan Afridi. Each KPL team will have five players from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The tournament has six teams: Rawalakot Hawks, Bagh Stallions, Mirpur Royals, Overseas Warriors, Muzaffarabad Tigers, and Kotli Lions are the six teams in the tournament. Shahid Afridi, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Hafeez, Shoaib Malik and Kamran Akmal are captains of their respective teams.

Gibbs views triggered an India-Pakistan war over social media.

Pakistan minister Shireen Mazari gave a political twist to Gibbs' remark.

However, Rajya Sabha MP from Shiv Sena, Priyanka Chaturvedi, thanked the BCCI and reminded Gibbs that the BCCI's advice was not a political agenda but a rightful agenda.

Here are some more tweets trying to convince Gibbs that if at all the BCCI has warned him, it was not without reason.
