New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson continues to ride on his legacy of being one of the world's best batsmen. As a result, he has been awarded the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for the fourth time.

Williamson was awarded the medal owing to his prolific outing with the bat during the Test summer at home. He also helped to lead the side into the final of the ICC World Test Championship, with the final set to be played against India in June in Southampton.

Besides helping the Kiwis to win 17 out of 20 games, he also slammed two double centuries in Tests. Being the highest ranked test player from the country, he was named the International Test Player of the Year, besides winning the Redpath Cup for scoring 639 runs at a bradmansque average of 159.

"Going into the Test summer - there was that Championship final carrot and there was a real drive there for the guys. Although it seemed a long way off, winning four Tests before you've started one is a pretty lofty goal. To spend some time at the crease personally and make contributions towards that … certainly proud as a leader and a player in this side that we were able to achieve some of those things and we're looking forward to that final," Williamson was quoted as saying to Hadlee.

Williamson is currently in India to participate in the 2021 Indian Premier League, representing Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although he did not play SRH'sopening game that it lost to Kolkata Knight Riders, he would be a part of the team in the coming days, as team head coach Trevor Bayliss confirmed.
