Indian skipper Virat Kohli would be leading the side for the first time in the 2021 ICC World T20, set to be held next month in Oman and the United Arab Emirates. The 15-member squad for the same was announced last week.

However, in an exciting move by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, former skipper MS Dhoni was roped in as the side's mentor. It would be the first time Dhoni would be associated with Team India following his international retirement last year.

Meanwhile, some reports have suggested that Dhoni's appointment comes after a few of the team and board members expressed concerns regarding the leadership style of Kohli. In the same light, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has made a shocking claim.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Butt maintained that Kohli has been doing a phenomenal job as the captain of late, especially in his recent stint in England, and this is not the right time to debate his captaincy. He explained that while Kohli has been criticised of late, he has always backed the team, with the team delivering as well.

He figured that the team is at the top in all formats under Kohli, and his captaincy should not be debated now, especially with WT20 ahead. Amidst all the media reports, Butt feels that Kohli is becoming a part of the "dirty game" by being dragged into it.

While comparing Kohli to Rohit Sharma, Butt admitted that the latter was a better captain. However, he urged all to analyse the percentage of the games won under him and his success rate globally. He insists that Kohli has done a lot for Indian cricket, and the news regarding his captaincy should not be emerging now.
