Punjab Kings suffered an embarrassing six-wicket defeat to former champion Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2021 on Friday. Nonetheless, despite the loss, PBKS found a positive in the form of its talented all-rounder Shahrukh Khan.

Shahrukh's innings
The 25-year-old Shahrukh slammed a 36-ball 47 despite PBKS's shaky start and allowing the side to finish on 106/8. Coming out to bat at number six, with PBKS having lost four wickets within the powerplay itself, SRK showed great composure to bat in the pressure situation.

SRK's take
"My role is playing down the order as a finisher, but you don't expect to go out and blast in every game because there will be situations where the team bundles out, and you need to take responsibility and see the team through. I'm branded as a complete finisher. I am a good batsman; I was batting up the order for Tamil Nadu for a couple of years. So, I've been batting at the top order. I have the skill in me to bat and see the team through in tough situations," Shahrukh said during the post-match press conference, reports PTI.

"New to the IPL, different scenario compared to the domestic games, but here I'm getting to learn a lot of things. I'm trying to improve my game by one per cent every session, having a good time with Wasim Jaffer and Andy Flower. Really having a lot of conversations with them,"  he added.

Learning experience
Shahrukh also asserted that playing both with and against top players is turning out to be a good learning experience for him. "The way they are having conversations with people around the team... Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle, David Malan and obviously KL Rahul. The likes of so many big players when they see you in the nets, they say certain things here and there," he concluded.

SRK in T20
It is SRK's maiden IPL season. The Tamil Nadu cricketer has had a regular Twenty20 stint so far, scoring 346 runs in 25 innings at an average of 20.35, but is rated to rise the ranks in the coming days considered one of the promising Indian talents in the format.
