Raina’s withdrawal gave rise to a lot of speculations. There were reports that he was upset after the franchise denied him a hotel room with a balcony, just like the one captain MS Dhoni had got.
Now the latest is that he is not part of the CSK WhatsApp group. “Once he left, he has been removed from CSK’s WhatsApp group. He has reached out to team-management including CEO, MS Dhoni and coach (Stephen) Fleming and is looking for a chance to return,” a source was quoted as saying by Inside Sport website.
Raina had hinted that he may return to CSK camp later. Also, he mentioned that he wants to play IPL for four to five years.
“It was a personal decision and I had to come back for my family. There was something that needed to be addressed immediately on the home front. CSK is my family too and Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very important to me and this was a tough decision. There is no issue between CSK and me. Nobody will just turn their back on Rs 12.5 crore and walk away without a solid reason. I might have retired from international cricket but I’m still young and I am looking forward to playing for them in the IPL for the next 4-5 years,” the left-hander had told Cricbuzz website in an interview.
IPL 2020 will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. CSK, led by MS Dhoni, have won the title thrice.
