Dubai: With IPL 202 set to start tomorrow (September 19) in the UAE, the spirits are already running high among the cricketers. Friday morning (September 18) began on a lighter note for Delhi Capitals’ (DC) players Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan by trolling each other on Twitter.

IPL 2020 full schedule

It all began with Pant posting a 20-second video featuring Dhawan for Dream11’s latest campaign, where Dhawan is playing gully cricket and takes a wonderful over-the-head catch, but the catch is dismissed since he catches the ball with both hands. According to gully cricket rules, one bounce catch needs to be caught with just one hand.

Pant took a dig at Dhawan on Twitter and posted, “Gully ka Jhonty! Hahaha #YahanSabSameHai #YeApnaGameHai #Dream11IPL @ShikharDhawan85”

Dhawan had a quick-witted response to this, and posted another 20-second video that featured the Delhi batsman Pant who hits the ball for a long six, but when the ball hits the roof and drops back into a fielder’s hand, he is declared out as per gully cricket rules.

The left-handed batsman Dhawan posted, “Aasaman se tapka, haath mein atka @RishabhPant17! Hahaha, Uncle solid fielder hai!  #YahanSabSameHai #YeApnaGameHai #Dream11IPL @Dream11”

These videos are based on the newly launched campaign by Dream11 called ‘Ye Apna Game Hain’.

The 13th edition of the IPL will begin with defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opener in Abu Dhabi. The tournament, which was moved out of India due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, will conclude on November 10. This year’s tournament will be played in empty stadiums due to the pandemic.
