IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Ben Stokes to join team in October

Jos Buttler, key batsman of Rajasthan Royals (RR) will play the second match for the team against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Sunday. Apart from this, versatile all-rounder Ben Stokes will resume playing for the team from the second week of October.

Starting off the IPL season on a good note, RR registered a 16-run victory against CSK. Ahead of their second match, the team received two pieces of good news, in terms of strengthening their side.

Jos Buttler, the overseas batsman-keeper is all set to play for the team in their second match against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The English batsman, who missed the opening game due to his extended quarantine, is set to play on Sunday at the Sharjah Stadium.

Another pleasant news for the team is that RR star all-rounder Ben Stokes is set to reach the UAE in the first week of October. Stokes, who had missed the second and third Tests against Pakistan missed the initial matches because he has to be with family in New Zealand. His father Ged, a former New Zealand rugby league footballer, was diagnosed with brain cancer.

The 29-year-old has begun his training sessions in New Zealand. He will most likely wear the RR jersey in the second week of October after he quarantines himself for six days. Following the BCCI’s guidelines that necessitates quarantine and two negative COVID-19 tests, he will join the team’s bio bubble.
