Dubai: Ahead of the start of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise have reportedly tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).

According to The Times of India on Friday (August 28), members of the CSK contingent have tested positive for the deadly virus after landing in Dubai.

As per reports, a current India fast bowler, part of the CSK squad, has tested positive for COVID-19. In all, 10 members have tested positive.

"Yes, a right-arm medium fast bowler, who has recently played for India, along with a few staff members have tested positive for COVID-19," a senior IPL source told news agency PTI on conditions of anonymity.

"As far as we know, one of the senior-most officials of the CSK management and his wife, and at least two members of their social media team are also COVID-19 positive," he added.

The MS Dhoni-led team had landed in the UAE on August 21 and were set to resume training after the mandatory six-day quarantine. Now, they have to extend the quarantine in their team hotel in Dubai.

The names of the player, support staff and officials who are COVID positive are not yet known, according to the report.

IPL 2020 is scheduled to be held in the UAE from September 19 to November 10.
