The last match of the first double-header weekend is scheduled between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This match 18 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.

Both Punjab and Chennai have been seen struggling from the very beginning of the tournament. They have not lost matches one-sidedly, but somewhat lack the middle-order thrust that has positioned them in the lower half of the points table.

Team Composition

The teams have fairly balanced players in their side. KXIP have some young blood, while CSK have more veterans in their team.

2019 Journey

CSK were the runners-up in the previous IPL season. They were second on the points table, while KXIP finished at the sixth position.

Head-to-head

The teams have clashed a total of 22 times. CSK have had an upper winning hand and have won 13 times, while KXIP have won just nine times.

Weather and pitch report

With very little chances of precipitation, the sky will be almost clear and the temperature will soar up to 37 degrees. Recent matches have witnessed an absolute dryness in the pitch, where even the dew fails to offer any advantage to the batsman. Also, with Dubai International being a large stadium, batsmen often struggle with the bat. So, batting first would be an ideal decision, and a score of 165 would be quite competitive.

Predicted XI

KXIP: KL Rahul (c & wk), Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Nair, James Neesham, Sarfaraz Khan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Mohammed Shami, Sheldon Cottrell, Ravi Bishnoi.

CSK: Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar.

Dream 11 Players

Batsmen: Mayank Agarwal, Faf du Plessis (c), Ambati Rayadu- Agarwal, and du Plessis, the in-form batsmen, can get the required start. Rayudu in the middle can consolidate well. Du Plessis purple patch makes him the captain.

All-rounders: Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja (vc)- Curran and Jadeja are the left-handed batsmen and can play the big shots when required. Meanwhile, Jaedja’s decent outing makes him the vice-captain.

Wicketkeepers: KL Rahul, MS Dhoni- Both Rahul and Dhoni are wicketkeeper-batsman and are exceptional with the bat.

Bowlers: Ravi Bishnoi, Sheldon Cottrell, Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar- Bishnoi, the young leg-spinner can deceive the batsman. The pace battery, including Sheldon Cottrell, Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar can restrict the opposition at a chasable total.

Players to look out for

Shane Watson: The Australian all-rounder has not been able to perform upto the mark in the five matches he has played. He needs to prove his mettle in the upcoming matches.

Glenn Maxwell: The Australian hard-hitter hasn’t given the big ones in any innings, for what he is known for. His contribution with the bat has been very little.

Sarfaraz Khan: The young player has lacked aggression on the field till now. Management will have a close watch over his performance in the upcoming matches.
