Abu Dhabi: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Dinesh Karthik on Sunday (September 6) congratulated himself and international cricket ahead of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020).

Karthik and his KKR teammates are currently in Abu Dhabi for IPL. After completing quarantine, they started training.

Amid the preparations for the cash-rich Twenty20 league in the UAE, the Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batsman spoke about this international cricket journey.

It was on September 5, 2004 that Karthik made his international debut. It was an ODI against England at Lord’s. Now, he has completed 16 years.

On Sunday he took to the micro-blogging website Twitter to state that his journey at in international cricket has been great.

“Congratulations to me and international cricket, it's our 16 year anniversary. We've been through lots of ups and downs, but the journey had always been great.I can't wait to see what it has in store for me, for the years to come,” Karthik wrote on his Twitter handle with his pictures.

The 35-year-old Karthik has played 26 Tests, 94 ODIs and 32 T20Is. He was last seen in India jersey in last year’s World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in England. India lost that game to exit from the ICC global 50-over tournament.
