Bengaluru: Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee has made his prediction about who could win the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) which starts on September 19 in the UAE.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) moved the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament out of India.

IPL 2020 full schedule

Originally, IPL 2020 was to start in March in India. However, now, the league will be played from September 19 to November 10 in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

With just less than 10 days to go for the first ball to be bowled, Lee has backed the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to win the trophy.

Lee said this while answering questions from fans on Instagram. He said, “Hard to say but let’s go with CSK.”

For this year’s edition, CSK are without two key players. Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh have opted out of the tournament due to personal reasons. While Raina travelled with the team to Dubai and returned, Harbhajan did not go to the UAE.

CSK have won the IPL title three times, all under Dhoni’s leadership. In August, he retired from international cricket and this could be his last season as an IPL player. However, he has not spoken anything about his IPL future.
