Bengaluru: Ahead of IPL 2020, former Australian spinner Brad Hogg wants Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and their head coach Brendon McCullum to rectify the relationship between captain Dinesh Karthik and all-rounder Andre Russell.

In last year’s IPL, Russell had said the team made “bad decisions”. KKR failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2019. The Shah Rukh Khan owned franchise have so far won two IPL titles and Russell is one of the big hitters of the league.

Karthik had said the differences of opinions between him and Russell have been sorted out.

Now, Hogg has raised the issue again before the start of IPL 2020 in the UAE from September 19.

“What is the one flaw in this team? There is only one — the relationship between Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik. We can’t have Andre Russell come out in the media after the game and say we didn’t make the right decisions. That’s got to be done behind closed doors,” Hogg, a former KKR player, said on his YouTube channel.

"Brendon McCullum has to make sure he rectifies that relationship, gets on top of it early, because, if there is a little bit of disharmony in this line-up, it can have a ripple effect in a bio-secure environment, and things can get out of hand very quickly,” he added.
