Bengaluru: Veteran Indian offspinner Harbhajan Singh is unlikely to play in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), according to reports.

Harbhajan, who did not travel with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team to the UAE, may announce his decision to pull out of the cash-rich Twenty20 league today (September 4).

With IPL 2020 set to begin on September 19, Harbhajan should have joined the CSK camp in Dubai by now. But that has not happened.

CSK are set to start training for the tournament today. They were hit by 13 COVID positive cases. However, the rest of the contingent have tested negative.

Though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to release the IPL 2020 schedule, it is expected that CSK will face defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening match.

If Harbhajan withdraws, it will be another big blow to CSK, who don’t have the services of their prolific batsman Suresh Raina.

Last week, Raina returned from Dubai due to personal reasons. He has opted out of IPL 2020 but hinted that he could go back to the UAE later.

IPL 2020 was moved out of India due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
