He was also involved in a gigantic 176-run stand for the second wicket along with opener Sanju Samson, who slammed a tasteful 77. Consequently, the netizens were delighted by both men.

Indian skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to defend while making three changes to the playing XI. Despite losing Ishan Kishan (3) early, Samson and Hooda nailed it with a 176-run stand. After the partnership was broken, the middle-order collapsed, while it could manage just 15 runs and lost four wickets in the last 13 deliveries, yet finishing at a challenging total of 225/7. Pacer Mark Adair claimed three wickets for the hosts.
