The Indian cricket team has earned a much-needed break from the now-suspended Indian Premier League. However, it is building itself up for the upcoming crucial tour of England from next month that is scheduled to contain the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton, followed by the five-Test series against England for the Pataudi Trophy in August.

It all starts on Wednesday, as Team India begins a two-week quarantine in a Mumbai hotel, including 20 players from the Test side. A few of the players who reside in Mumbai would be quarantined at their respective homes before entering the bubble on May 24, reports ESPNCricinfo.

A charter flight, arranged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India, would be bringing in the players, coaches and support staff to Mumbai, while another charter flight would fly out the squad to England on June 2. Also, it is ensuring that the players return with three negative tests before flying to England.

Wriddhiman Saha's status
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Saha would be joining the bubble later in the week. Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2021, he tested COVID positive and served a two-week quarantine before flying to Kolkata to visit his family.

Besides him, KL Rahul was also the one to test COVID positive. However, he, too, has served their mandatory quarantine as well and would join the squad soon.

Southampton quarantine
Upon arrival in Southampton, the team would undergo a further ten-day quarantine. Since the team hotel in the city is within the stadium's premises, the Indians would be exempted from brutal quarantine and would be allowed to train within the bubble itself.

BCCI waiting for family members exemption
Meanwhile, the BCCI is waiting to get the exemption of family members from the England and Wales Cricket Board, as the latter is working with the United Kingdom government to get the same. Currently, the family members of the participating players are serving the quarantine in the Mumbai team hotel under the same protocol for the players.
