India is currently busy playing a five-Test series against England for the Pataudi Trophy. Upon completion, the players would switch attention to the Indian Premier League 2021 remainder in the United Arab Emirates, which would act as a warm-up to the 2021 ICC World T20, to be held in the gulf from next month.

Meanwhile, ANI reports that the Indian squad for the Twenty20 global spectacle would be picked up by the Indian selectors next week, following the completion of the fourth Test. A source told the agency that the squad would be picked up by Friday (September 10).

As of now, only Australia and New Zealand are the two sides to have announced the squad. India would be taking part in the seventh edition of the WT20, having been placed in Group 2 alongside Afghanistan, New Zealand, Pakistan and a couple of qualifiers. At the same time, it would open the proceedings against arch-rival Pakistan on October 24.

The tournament qualifiers will be held in UAE and Oman, while the Super 12 will be held entirely in UAE. The Oman leg has been scheduled to give enough time to the UAE pitches to be ready ahead of the event, following its rigid use in IPL 2021.

The four venues happen to be Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. The semis would be held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, respectively, on November 10 and 11, with reserves days in place. The final would be played in Dubai on November 10 (Sunday), with Monday (November 11) being a reserve day.
